Alvin David

Alvin David, age 81, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021, at his home following an extended illness.

Alvin Emil, the son of Emil and Albina (Filipek) David, was born on November 29, 1939, in Montgomery, MN.  He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1957.  After high school, Al served in the U.S. Army.  On April 28, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Sevcik at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, MN.  Al was a dairy farmer in the Shieldsville area for many years and later was an Ag Mechanic for Seneca Foods in Montgomery for 20 years.  Al was a talented and creative self-taught wood worker and his works can be found in his own home as well as homes throughout the country, including the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, and could often be seen driving around on his lawn mower…mowing and more likely, visiting neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty David of Faribault; by his children, Michael (Karla) David of Sarasota, FL, and Jenn (Ben) Crump of Tega Cay, SC; by five grandchildren, Sarah David, Chris (Caitlin) David, Steven (Kari) David, Phil (Kelly) David and Thomas David and fiancé Jules Herges; by great granddaughter, Kyla Langeslag; by son-in-law, Michael Schneider of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Mary Beth Schneider and two sisters, Jean Quigley and Marion Sevcik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to the Church of St. Patrick in memory of Alvin.

Funeral arrangements are being completed with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.
